CORESITE – SV7

Project Type: Data Centers
Geographic Market: Santa Clara
Square Footage: 250,000

Project Overview

United Mechanical was brought on to this design-build project to complete both HVAC and plumbing. Based on the requirements of the tenants we provided two different ways of cooling the building.

The first tenant required a 3,600-ton chilled water plant to cool the 9mw floor; We installed (4) 900-ton chillers on the second floor and cooling towers on the roof. For that floor alone we installed 14,000 ft of piping, ranging from 16” steel to 1” copper.

The second and third tenant will be receiving their cooling from (15) 300-ton custom air handlers. Each AHU is 56’ long by 25’ wide so they were all installed in sections on the roof. Due to the AHU being so large, the ductwork we installed was extremely oversized. The risers that go from the roof to the 3rd and 4th floors, for underfloor distribution, are 35’ wide by 4’. For this project, we fabricated and installed 385,000 lbs of sheet metal.
