CHEMOCENTRYX

Project Type: Design-Build
Square Footage: 85,200

Project Overview

United Mechanical was brought in as the HVAC design-build contractor for this lab and office space. Overall, the lab space contained 44 phoenix valves ranging from single to quad valves. The chemistry space contained 30 phoenix valves also ranging from single to quad, serving small 8’ fume hoods, 10’ walk-in fume hoods and 16’ fume hoods. The quad supply air valves maintain the pressurization of the space. For humidity control in the Vivarium space a humidifier was placed, as well as a VRF system to provide additional or emergency cooling. A dedicated exhaust was designed for the Vivarium Cage wash and additional Phoenix valves were placed to maintain pressure in critical rooms. A separate dedicated exhaust was placed for the Glass wash as well. Overall, there were 35 exhaust drops throughout the entire lab space to serve snorkels, ventilated cabinets, exhaust equipment and a variety of tools. For the chemistry storage space, the design accommodated different room classifications such as Class 1 Division 2.
