GENENTECH

Project Type: Biotech
Geographic Market: South San Francisco
Square Footage: 1,260,000

Project Overview

United Mechanical was brought on to this massive Bayside project for removal and replacement of chillers within buildings B10, B15, B41, B42 & B48, and infrastructure upgrades to buildings B10, B48, B43, B46 & B47. United Mechanical provided work packages that were completed with winter tie-ins to an existing Refrigerated Water System, allowing future work so piping can run up the outside of the building within “Riser Towers”.  This allows the central plant distribution RWS/R piping to feed the buildings. UMI has completed many strategic tie-ins without disruption to the end users. Due to the LOD 400 BIM effort and the client requesting laser scanning of the existing conditions a massive Pre-Con effort took place.

United Mechanical was also enlisted to help carry out the K6 program.  The K6 program eliminates halogenated hydrocarbon refrigerants from Genentech’s
South San Francisco campus while evaluating/implementing site-wide infrastructure improvements to significantly improve the reliability, efficiency and overall performance of the campus’ utility system. This is Genentech’s approach to lowering its carbon footprint beyond what other market leaders are willing to do.
